Photo: Craig CardonCraig Cardon is a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group at Sheppard Mullin.

His practice focuses on intellectual property, media/entertainment, advertising and e-commerce counseling and litigation. Much of his practice is devoted to disputes over media content and distribution technologies, including satellite, wireless and Internet technologies.

He also has extensive experience with patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, securities, RICO and antitrust litigation. His trial experience includes both intellectual property and commercial matters.

He both advises clients on advertising issues and litigates false and deceptive advertising disputes. In addition to representing clients in private civil actions he has represented clients in FTC enforcement proceedings and trials. He also has extensive experience advising and representing companies in matters and litigation relating to the unique issues of online advertising.

Mr. Cardon was counsel for Digital Envoy in the trade secret case Digital Envoy v. Google, 370 F. Supp.2d 1025 (N.D. Cal 2005) addressing Internet advertising practices.

In the anti-piracy area, Mr. Cardon has advised the Japanese government, has represented the Motion Picture Association of America and has counseled film studios on the legality of new distribution technologies and models.

Mr. Cardon has been recognized as one of the leading lawyers in the country on User Generated Content matters. His article, "Advertising on the Internet", for the California Business Law Practitioner, was the basis for a series of statewide CEB presentations moderated by Mr. Cardon.
